Our Community

We are committed to supporting our community and have various initiatives in place, some of which are listed below.

  • I Have a Dream
The Platinum Homes Pro-Am has been running since 2017. During this time over $70,000 has been raised for “I Have a Dream – Whāngarei”. I Have a Dream provides tamariki (children) and rangatahi (youth) (our Dreamers) with personal support, opportunities and resources, empowering them to increase their abilities and find success for themselves throughout their educational and life journey. The Dream Team aims to demonstrate how the long-term, holistic and strength-based investment in a generation of local children will have a positive collective impact on the community by working in partnership with a child’s full ecosystem – schools, whanau, community organisations and other youth-focused charities. We’re very proud to support this initiative.
  • FUNdraising in Maunu
On the first Wednesday of every month we hold a fun quiz night, putting the “FUN” into “FUNdraising in Maunu”. The event is advertised on all the local community Facebook pages and attracts participants from across Whangarei. We emphasise the FUN element and welcome our involvement with the community.

  • Coaching Clinics
Our resident PGA Professional holds coaching clinics for local juniors. We sponsor these clinics, so there’s no cost to those participating. We welcome the involvement of the juniors and their parents/caregivers. We also actively encourage “new to golf” participants and encourage them to have lessons, which enhances their enjoyment of the sport.

  • Predator Free Whangarei
We have a trapping programme established, which regularly checks & records predators. Our work with Predator Free Whangarei is designed to restore our native flora & fauna. We endorse their vision “to see our native birds flourish, our ecosystems restored and our communities strengthened”. This work is conducted with the assistance of Gotcha Traps. Gotcha Traps are the inventors and distributors of the Black Trakka tracking tunnel system for pest and at-risk species detection and monitoring. The programme is run by our team of volunteers.
